Do you know how difficult it can be to get some of our men to strike out and travel? Well I’m thrilled to say we’ve got 6 couples out of 30 travelers joining us on the Kenya/Zanzibar tour. Collectively they’ve got over 170 years of wedded bliss. Travis & Eddie Williams of Oakland are leading with 58 years. You’ll see Ms Eddie in one of the pictures (circa) 1963 sitting next to her man wearing her mohair sweater that still hangs in her closet. She was a fashionista then and remains to be one.
Next with 39 years we’ve got Sidney & Felicia Watson of Portland. Others adding big digits are Phil & Katrina Peoples, Mike & Debb Simmons, Maurice & Janet L.Jones, and Phil & Angie Davis. Congrats!
All the years they’ve spent together means so many thing to each of them but one thing that resonates with me is the fact that these couples have been the best role models for the younger generation, not just their offspring but nieces, nephews, cousins and their friends and associates.
In Zanzibar, we’ll celebrate good times! I’m looking forward to it.

In a couple of months 30 of us will be on our way to Nairobi, Masai Mara and the island of Zanzibar; hoping to see the Great Migration this time.
When I count all my game drives over the years since 2007, this little girl from East Oakland has been on over 60 over and over to Bakubung, Ivory Tree, Shepherd’s Tree, in Pilanesberg, Kruger, The Serengeti, and the Masai Mara. In late July we will return to the 5 star tented camp of Sand River Masai Mara by Elewana. It’s reminiscent of the 20’s when the rich folks went on safari. Yep, that will be us with the entire camp on lock, not sharing with any other travelers. If you’re not with Kattrax those 5 days you will not be there.
It’s All-Inclusive – full board; breakfast, lunch and dinner, and all beverages. Meals prepared by our own African Chefs who possess the same roots as us, and our rangers from the Masai Tribe. It’s an experience unlike any other. That’s precisely why we’ve got several that went in ‘22, returning.
That leads me to this: If you want a piece of this, take it, you can have it. Go on and Live your best life because what you’ve worked so hard for all these years to leave to Billy; trust and believe he’s going to blow right through it.

How many times have I said, “This is the last time, I’m not going back” ? I know, I know way too many times. Well it’s in my DNA, it’s my passion, I live and breathe travel. That said, Vietnam and Thailand will see me again. It was such a great trip and they treat your girl so well but that’s wherever I go. Since I’ve been back I’ve found out how much our chosen hotels and guides love my groups and that too makes me want to return.
I would probably bypass the 2 nights in Saigon, go to Hanoi, cruise Halong Bay, beloved Da Nang, Bangkok and maybe Phuket. One thing is for sure in Hanoi; everybody absolutely loved the Vespa tour experience. A quote by Kellea, “20 black Americans on Vespas riding through the streets of Hanoi had to be a sight to see”. 🤪
I’m pretty sure the month will be November 2025. The weather in all mentioned cities should be comfortable and dry. Oh my, a typical 2 hr massage in Phuket is 300 – 500 Bhat ($8-13) I like it like that!
In 2 weeks we will be on our way to Paris and all are in for a treat. “How ya gonna keep them down on the farm after they’ve seen Par-ee”

I think a good time was had by all but now it’s time to go home. Yesterday was the famous Blue Elephant Restaurant and Cooking School. It was my 3rd time. For me it was all about going in order to get that lovely embroidered chef’s apron; no market, no traveling by Sky Train. After aprons were placed on the desks in the classroom; I grabbed a Grab back to the hotel to enjoy lunch and prepare for my 90 minute scrub & massage.
I had already scouted out my preferred dinner spot. Even though I’ve been on this weight loss journey; once a foodie, always a foodie. We just learn how to best manage the thing. I had promised Briana she would get her crab fix somewhere over here and THE CRAB MINISTRY was everything!
One last tour day today and we roll out tomorrow. I shall pass, as I’m opting for a 2 hr in-room massage for $27. Now that’s what’s up.
